Vuelta presentata come molto equilibrata nel percorso, certamente più di quella del 2013 con i suoi 13 arrivi in salita, ma ancora parecchio centrata sulla salita. Difficile prevedere qualcosa di diverso da uno scontro tutto casalingo tra Contador, Valverde, Rodriguez.
