Chissà se riuscirà a simulare salite analoghe con i miei 85/87 kg
"This time I wanted to find out the minimum and maximum breaking power of the Bushido as a function of speed. Two tests were performed in the Watt-time mode of Catalyst software. In the minimum power test I set the power to 20 Watt so that the break never breaks stronger than minimum and in the maximum power test to 980 Watt so that the break operates always at its maximum. In both tests I increased speed every 1 min starting from 10 km/h. Calibration was done before the tests (11.0 / 10.7) and checked afterwards.
The data for the minimum as well as for the maximum break power could be perfectly fitted by linear functions:
Pmax [W] = 17.8 W*h/km * v [km/h]
Pmin [W] = 4.16 W*h/km * (v [km/h] - 3.7 km/h)
If the fan switches on the minimum power curve is shifted by 25 to 30 Watts. The fan was off most of the time in the minimum power test except for 30 sec at 40 and 45 km/h.
With these data everybody can compute his personal maximum slope that the Bushido can mimic. Uphill power is given by P = v*m*g*SIN(ARCTAN(slope_in_percent/100)) and max. breaking power by the equation above. So the max. slope is given by
SIN(ARCTAN(slope_in_percent/100)) = (17.8*3.6) [W*s/m] / m [kg] / 9.81 [m/s²]
where m is the total mass of rider and bike.
Depending on the mass the maximum slope varies. For example:
mass - slope
-----------------
50 kg - 13.2 %
65 kg - 10.1 %
80 kg - 8.2 %
95 kg - 6.9 %
110 kg - 5.9 %
I hope this is useful information for someone.
David"
